Dmitriev-Zdorov) - Review of updated mixed-mode explanatory text (R. Biernacki) - Decision on syntax for mixed-mode text, examples and data ====================================================================== Minutes from August 20: Attendees: ---------- (* denotes present) Agilent - Radek Biernacki*, John Moore, Ken Wong Ansoft - Denis Soldo* Cadence Design Systems - Terry Jernberg, Brad Griffin Green Streak Programs - Lynne Green Hewlett-Packard - Rob Elliott Intel - Michael Mirmak* Mentor Graphics Corp. - John Angulo, Vladimir Dmitriev-Zdorov* Micron Technology - Randy Wolff Sigrity - Sam Chitwood, Raymond Y. Chen, Tao Su, Brad Brim SiSoft - Walter Katz Teraspeed Consulting Group - Bob Ross* ======================================================================== No patents were announced. Vladimir reviewed changes he had made to his explanation of mixed-mode conversions, based on conversations with Bob Ross. He will adjust the delimiter syntax once the team agrees on a format for use throughout the document. Bob noted that, in some cases, the letter X stands for an input vector (with output vector F), while in others, X may be any vector (input or output). Page 3 shows matrix calculations from left to right, while equations P13 and P14 have been updated as well. Radek inquired why both P13 and P14 are needed. Vladimir responded that the equations show two relations that aren't necessarily equivalent. P17 is the actual conversion equation. The team agreed that no further examples would be needed in the text. Vladimir's text will be added to the document as an appendix, but the syntax will be made as consistent as possible with the main document. Radek shared his text edits with the team and some brief discussion was held on changes. Vladimir noted that indexing is only used for single-ended data, but differential and common mode parameters do not use indexing. Radek will provide a revised copy to the team over the reflector, including notation on references, with matrices distinguished from vectors. Bob Ross noted that he preferred "Mixed-Mode" as a consistent usage, wherever the word "Mixed" is to be capitalized (e.g., the keyword definition). This will be fixed in the combined mixed-mode review draft (see below). Vladimir and Radek will make adjustments to their portions of the text for the next meeting. At that point, the team will discuss and close on a consistent syntax for the mixed-mode section of the document. The following meeting will review a draft featuring the complete mixed-mode text. If mixed-mode support is closed with that draft, port grouping will be finalized and the document will be prepared for submission to the IBIS Open Forum. ======================================================================== Team Objectives: 1) complete ICM-IBIS linking BIRD and any associated changes to the ICM specification 2) update the ICM specification, if needed, to clarify the mapping of ICM nodes to S-parameter ports 3) complete a specification for "Touchstone Plus" or similar industry-standard definition for Touchstone-like files, to include complex impedance references, removal of limits on the maximum number of ports and per-port impedance references ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ The IBIS Ad Hoc Interconnect Task Group Mailing List Archives are available at: http://www.freelists.org/archives/ibis-interconn TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a message to "ibis-interconn-request@freelists.org" with a subject of "unsubscribe" To administer your subscription status from the web, visit: http://www.freelists.org/list/ibis-interconn
